Aksilen
Aksilen means 'welcome' in Wolof and was set up as Yaye Dib Dance's annual training holiday to Dakar, Senegal.Aksilen offers students an intensive 2 weeks of learning and living the life of an artist. Students have the opportunity to train dance and music with a selection of professional Senegalese artists, as well as attend traditional cultural events and enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of this buzzing city in the "pays de la teranga", meaning the 'country of teranga'. Teranga loosely translates to "hospitality" in Wolof, however it is really so much more. Teranga includes elements of respect, community, solidarity and sharing.
